HALF WITH HIV
Half Baltimore-area African-American Gay Men HIV Positive
BALTIMORE, June 16, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new study assessing human immunodeficiency virus rates in Baltimore-area homosexual men has revealed that a third have the disease, while in African-American homosexual men, the rate is 50 percent.
The federally funded study, conducted by John Hopkins School of Medicine from June 2004 until this April, has prompted the Maryland Department of Health to implement programs to combat high-risk behavior.
Although not specified, one presumes the programs referred to will recommend condoms as the order of the day – despite evidence pointing to a complete lack of efficacy of condom use to stop the spread of the epidemic. Even with a reported 80 percent condom use in Japan, according to UNAIDS statistics, the rate of HIV infections has risen there by 14 percent since the early 80s – the same rate that it has been increasing in sub-Saharan Africa.
